Dr. Nami Kim is a clinical psychologist, academic administrator, and mom of two. Nami served as Associate Provost/Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at Saybrook University from 2015 to 2020 where she led and assisted in regional and program accreditation efforts and drove the professionalization of university operations to improve the student experience and academic rigor of Saybrook’s degree programs.
Dr. Kim began her clinical career in 2001 at correctional and forensic settings in the San Francisco Bay Area, including the San Francisco County Jail, Alameda County Juvenile Hall, and California Medical Facility. She worked at Napa State Hospital as a staff psychologist in the Incompetent to Stand Trial population, then as a Senior Supervising Psychologist managing Psychologists working with the Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity population, in addition to the clinical and administrative supervision of admission psychologists, neuropsychologists, and interns in the APA-accredited clinical psychology internship program at the hospital.
Dr. Kim received her MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology at Alliant International University – CSPP SF Bay. She received her BS in Biology and BS in Psychology at Virginia Tech.
Dr. Kim was a pandemic-induced stay-at-home mom for the past three years until she joined Sofia University. She spends as much time as possible in her urban garden while working as the cruise ship director of her household. She is a science and comedy nerd at heart.
